Output Shaft Seal

CAUTION:

The seal must be installed flush with the case. Driving the seal deeper could damage the seal causing a leak.

  1. Position the new transmission output shaft seal (3) over the transmission output shaft and against the transmission case.
  2. Using (special tool #9677, Installer, Seal) install the transmission output shaft seal.
  3. Install the driveshaft flange (1).
  4. Install the transmission rear dust seal (2).
  5. Verify that the transmission is in PARK.

  6. Install a NEW  transmission output flange nut (2). Tighten the transmission output flange nut, with a 34 mm 12 point socket, to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Stake (3) the transmission output flange nut (2).
  8. Position the driveshaft in place on the transmission output flange.

  9. Install the driveshaft washers (2) and bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - CHECK OIL LEVEL  .
