Plate, Carrier: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the upper trim molding. Refer to MOLDING, DOOR BELT, OUTER, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the inner belt molding.
  4. If necessary, temporarily connect the window switch assembly and battery to actuate the motor.
  5. Position the glass to access the glass slider on the regulator through the access door (1).

  6. Remove the plug (3) located near the motor.
  7. Using the regulator, move the front door glass (1) up or down as required to access the two window regulator glass release tabs (2, 3) through the access holes in the regulator rails.

  8. Through the access door release the regulator glass slider (1) and position the glass (3) in the full up position and secure the glass.

  9. Remove the screws (3 and 4) securing the door latch to the door inner panel.

  10. Release the clip (1) and disconnect the link (2) from the exterior handle.

    NOTE:

    The video above shows a typical door harness connector.

  11. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  12. Peel the B-pillar grommet off of the connector/retainer and move it up the wire harness.
  13. Grasp the wire harness by the convolute section of the grommet and gently pull the wire harness down towards the floor to expose the connector lock tabs.
    CAUTION:

    Do not force the locking tab past the connector body, as damage to the connector may occur.

  14. While still pulling down on the harness, use a small slotted screw driver to gently  push one of the top lock tabs until the lock feature is flush with the connector/retainer body.
  15. Repeat step 14 for the remaining top lock tab.
  16. The connector should now be able to rock out of the sheet metal hole without causing any damage to the connector or sheet metal.

  17. Remove the screws (4) securing the harness to the door.
  18. Carefully position the door seal (3) aside and pull the harness out.

  19. Remove the screw (2) and release the inner handle (1) from the door.

  20. Locate and release the four retaining clips (1) by turning clockwise.

  21. Remove the fasteners (4) securing the door carrier plate (1) to the door frame and remove the carrier plate.
