Lamps/Lighting - Interior (Service Information): Description
The interior lighting system for this vehicle includes both incandescent and Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit lighting on several separate circuits. The lamps in the interior lighting system include:
- Cargo/Dome Lamps - There are cargo lamp units located overhead in rear of the vehicle interior and also optional above both sliding doors. The exact number and location of these lamps varies with the optional body length as well as other optional equipment. These lamps can feature a single incandescent bulb or a LED lamp with motion sensing detection.
- Front Dome/Reading Lamps - This is integral to the headliner between the driver and passenger sun visors near the windshield header. There are two bulbs located within the dome, one for the passenger side of the vehicle and one for the drivers side of the vehicle. There are two toggle switches. The passenger switch allows for Dome ON/OFF and map ON/OFF. The drivers side switch allows for auto dome control ON/OFF and dome ON/OFF.
- Center Console Lamp
- An LED center console lamp that operates when the door ajar switch reads open. If the vehicle is not equipped with this lamp there will be a cap in place of the lamp.
- Footwell Lamps - An LED footwell lamp is added to both the driver and passenger underside of the instrument panel. These illuminate when the door ajar switch reads open.
Most controls on the instrument panel and elsewhere in the interior of the vehicle are illuminated by the panel lamps dimmer circuit for night visibility. All have miniature incandescent bulbs, LED units or a combination of the two lighting types that are soldered to internal circuit boards and are not serviceable.
Other components of the interior lighting system for this vehicle include:
- Dimmer Switch - On Left-Hand Drive (LHD) models, the panel lamps dimmer control switch is located on the instrument panel, to the left of the steering wheel. There is an up and down arrow located on this panel. Selecting the up or down arrow brings up the dimmer lighting level indicator within the EVIC display and pressing either arrow will increase or decrease the lighting level.
- Door Ajar Switches - A door ajar switch is integral to the door latch mechanism of each front, sliding, and rear door.
- Instrument Panel Cluster - The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is located in the instrument panel above the steering column opening, directly in front of the driver. Refer to DESCRIPTION .
- Body Control Module - The Body Control Module (BCM) is located beneath the driver side end of the instrument panel in the passenger compartment.
