Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
During this diagnostic test, keep one door open.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- With the scan tool, erase the Amplifier (AMP) DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
- Turn the Radio on.
- Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
- With the scan tool, read the AMP DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To Step 2.
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK AMPLIFIER BUSSED INPUTS/SENSORS
- With the scan tool in Amplifier Data Display, read the Cabin Equalization Curve number in the Bussed Inputs and Sensors Sections.NOTE:
The Cabin EQ Curve settings in the Inputs/Sensors section should match one another. The Cabin EQ# in the Inputs section is the information that is received from the BCM. The Cabin EQ in the Sensors section is the information that is Stored in the Amplifier's memory.
Do the Cabin EQ settings match one another?
Yes
- Replace the Amplifier in accordance to the service information. Refer to AMPLIFIER, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- With the scan tool in Amplifier Data Display, read the Cabin Equalization Curve number in the Bussed Inputs and Sensors Sections.
- VERIFY COMMUNICATION WITH BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)
- With the scan tool, read the active modules on the BUS.
Does the scan tool show the BCM active on the BUS?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Refer to NO RESPONSE FROM ECU and perform the No Response From BCM (Body Control Module) diagnostic procedure.
- With the scan tool, read the active modules on the BUS.
- CHECK BCM FOR ACTIVE DTCs
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all BCM Module harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all BCM Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM Module DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL and MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), INSTALLATION .
- Perform the Body VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the Body VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
