Sleeve, Headrest, Front: Removal

NOTE:

This procedure can be performed in the vehicle, if the back of the seat is fully accessible.

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat side air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Remove the headrest.
  2. Remove the seat, if necessary. Refer to SEAT, FRONT, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the side shields. Refer to SIDE SHIELDS, SEAT CUSHION, FRONT, REMOVAL .

  4. Place the seat back into the full forward position and open the side zippers (1).
  5. Release the lower J-clip retainers then remove the cardboard back panel.

  6. Reach up and squeeze the tabs (2), and remove the headrest guides (1).

    Note the position of the sleeves, for proper installation.
