Rail, Fuel: Removal: 6.4L

WARNING:
The fuel system is under constant pressure even with engine off. Before servicing the fuel rail, fuel system pressure must be released.
CAUTION:
The left and right fuel rails are replaced as an assembly. Do not attempt to separate fuel rail halves at connector tube. Due to design of the connector tube, it does not use any clamps. Never attempt to install a clamping device of any kind to the connector tube. When removing fuel rail assembly for any reason, be careful not to bend or kink the connector tube.
- Perform fuel system pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable (1).
- Remove fuel tank filler cap.
- Remove the engine cover (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connector at the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor (4).
- Loosen the hose clamp at the air cleaner housing (2).
- Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body (2) and remove the duct (3).
- Disconnect throttle body electrical connector (2).
- Disconnect electrical connectors at all 8 fuel injectors. Push red colored slider away from injector. While pushing slider, depress tab and remove the connector from the injector.
- Disconnect the fuel supply line at the fuel rail. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - QUICK-CONNECT FITTINGS .
- Disconnect the PCV hose.
- Using the sequence shown, remove the four fuel rail retaining bolts.
- Gently rock and lift the left side fuel rail until the fuel injectors just start to clear the machined holes in the intake manifold.
- Gently rock and lift the right side fuel rail until the fuel injectors just start to clear the machined holes in the intake manifold. Repeat this procedure (left/right) until all injectors have cleared the machined holes.
- Remove the fuel rail (with injectors attached) from the engine.
- If the fuel injectors are to be removed. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL .
