Diagnostic Test

- VERIFY THE HOOD IS LATCHED PROPERLY NOTE:
For this fault to set both Hood Ajar Switch inputs must indicate the Hood is open when vehicle speed is present.
- Visually inspect the hood and verify that it is securely latched.
Is the hood latched properly?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Secure the hood and retest.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Visually inspect the hood and verify that it is securely latched.
- CHECK THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL NOTE:
Diagnose and repair any Vehicle Sensor DTCs present before continuing.
- Test drive the vehicle.
- Perform several stop and go events.
- With the scan tool, monitor the vehicle speed signal input.
Does the vehicle speed drop to zero and hold consistently when the vehicle is stopped?
Yes
- Check the functionality of both Hood Ajar Switches.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Diagnose the faulty vehicle speed input. Check for any service bulletins that may apply.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
