Diagnostic Test
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (B32) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- Disconnect the ABS harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit at the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (B32) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (B33) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
- Check for continuity between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit at the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Is there continuity between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Check for continuity between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit at the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- CHECK THE (B32) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit between the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit between the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.
- CHECK THE (B33) SENSOR GROUND FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit between the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the short between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (B33) Sensor Ground circuit between the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.
- CHECK THE ABILITY OF THE ABS MODULE TO READ THE VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL
- Connect the ABS harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect a fused jumper between the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (B31) 5-Volt Supply Circuit at the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read all DTCs.NOTE:
The scan tool should display the P0558-BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH DTC active or pending with the jumper in place.
Does the scan tool display as described above?
Yes
- Replace the Vacuum Pressure Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the ABS Module harness connector.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Connect the ABS Module harness connector. Be certain that the harness connector is fully seated and the connector lock is fully engaged.
- Connect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Connect the related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.WARNING:
To avoid possible serious or fatal injury, check brake capability is available before road testing.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read ABS Module DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), REMOVAL .
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST
No
- The wiring or poor connection problem has been repaired.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST
