Pan, Oil: Removal

  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to .
  2. Mark and lower and support the crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, CRADLE, ENGINE AND SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the structural dust cover retaining bolts (1).
  4. Remove the structural dust cover (2).
  5. Remove the transmission line retaining bracket at the oil pan.
  6. Remove the engine oil level indicator tube retaining nut and position the tube aside.

    NOTE:

    Do not pry on the oil pan or oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket is integral to the engine windage tray and does not come out with the oil pan.

  7. Remove the M6 retaining bolts and remove the oil pan.

    NOTE:

    When the oil pan is removed, a new oil pan gasket and the integral windage tray assembly must be installed, the old gasket cannot be reused.

    NOTE:

    The oil pump pickup tube can be removed with the oil pan in vehicle.

  8. Position the front of the oil pan (5) towards the drivers side.
  9. Remove the oil pump pickup tube retaining bolt (3) and nut (2).
  10. Remove the oil pump pickup tube (4) and the oil pan as an assembly.
  11. Remove and discard the oil pan gasket/windage tray (1).
  12. Clean the sealing surfaces as necessary.
