Battery, Supplemental: Removal
- If equipped with power seats, move the passenger seat to the most forward and upright position or if equipped with manual seats, move the passenger seat to the most forward position.
- Turn the ignition switch to the Off position. Be certain that all electrical accessories are turned off.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Disconnect and isolate the main battery negative cable by removing only the captive nut securing the terminal end to the post.NOTE:
If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the vent tube from the supplemental battery (1).
- Disconnect the supplemental negative battery cable and position aside (3).
- Disconnect the supplemental negative positive cable and position aside (2).
- Remove the battery holddown nut (1) and remove the battery holddown strap.WARNING:
Wear a suitable pair of rubber gloves when removing a battery by hand. Safety glasses should also be worn. If the battery is cracked or leaking, the electrolyte can burn the skin and eyes.
- Remove the battery from the vehicle.
