Shaft, Drive, Front: Removal

NOTE:

Driveshaft is serviced as an assembly only.

  1. Place the vehicle on floor or drive-on hoist with full weight of vehicle on suspension.
  2. Shift the transmission and transfer case to Neutral.
  3. If equipped, remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL .
  4. Support the transfer case with a jack stand and remove the transmission cross-member. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL .
    CAUTION:

    Failure to follow these instructions may result in a driveline vibration.

  5. Mark a line across the Constant Velocity (CV) joints to companion flanges for installation reference.
  6. Remove the bolts from CV joints.
  7. Push the driveshaft forward to clear the transfer case companion flange and remove the shaft.
