Brake Lamps

The brake (or stop) lamps and the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) each have a path to ground at all times. The brake lamp switch is continually monitored by the BCM. When the normally open circuit of the brake lamp switch is closed by the brake pedal arm, the BCM responds to the brake lamp switch input by providing a control output that energizes or deenergizes the brake lamps.
