Switch, Parking Brake: Installation
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Position the park switch sensor in position and connect the wire harness connector.
- Install and securely tighten the fastener (1) that secures the park brake switch to the park brake lever mechanism.
- Manipulate the trim bezel cover down the parking brake arm enough to connect the heated seat switch wire harness connector.
- Manipulate the trim bezel the remaining way down the parking brake arm and maneuver it into installation position.
- Insert the fasteners (1) that secure the trim bezel to the seat framing
- Reconnect the battery negative cable.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and check for proper brake indicator operation with the parking brake applied, then release the parking brake and check that the brake indicator extinguishes.
