Hinge, Spring: Removal

Remove the trunk carpet, on the side of hinge replacement. Refer to CARPET, REMOVAL .
Remove the push fasteners and the lower rear shelf panel.
Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the forward and rearward decklid spring attachment locations on the spring (1) and the respective brackets.
Support the decklid with a suitable prop or block to prevent it from closing.

Using the vise grips (2) or equivalent, pull rearward and inward towards the center of the vehicle to remove the spring (1) from the rear bracket.
