Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read the Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- With the scan tool, read the Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- CHECK THE (A929) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit at the SCCM harness connector.
Is the voltage above 9.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open or short to ground in the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (Z912) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (Z912) Ground circuit at the SCCM harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (Z912) Ground circuit?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open in the (Z912) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (D403) LIN BUS 3 CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (D403) LIN BUS 3 circuit at the SCCM harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.0 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (D403) LIN BUS 3 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the BCM C5/E harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (D403) LIN Bus 3 circuit between the SCCM harness connector and the BCM C5/E harness connector.
Is the resistance above 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open in the (D403) LIN Bus 3 circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
