No
- Recharge or replace the Vehicle Battery and retest.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Test drive the vehicle and perform several Auto Start Events of the engine.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE PCR CONTROL RELAY B+ CIRCUIT
- Remove the PCR Control Relay from the PDC.
- Measure the voltage at terminal 30 of the PCR Control Relay connector.
Is the voltage equal to Battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Check for a blown fuse. If there are no blown fuses, replace the PDC in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CENTER, POWER DISTRIBUTION (PDC), REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (T760) POWER CONTROL RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PDC C4 harness connector.
- Disconnect the Power Control Relay harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit at the Power Control Relay harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit for a short to ground and check the fuses in the PDC.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (T760) POWER CONTROL RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit between the Power Control Relay harness connector and the PDC C4 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit between the Power Control Relay harness connector and the PDC C4 harness connector.
- CHECK THE POWER CONTROL RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OUTPUT
- Reconnect the PDC C4 harness connector.
- Connect a jumper between terminal 30 and terminal 87 of the PCR Control Relay connector in the PDC.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (T760) Power Control Relay Control circuit at the Power Control Relay harness connector.
Is the voltage equal to Battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 7NOTE:
Remove the jumper before continuing.
No
- Replace the PDC in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CENTER, POWER DISTRIBUTION (PDC), REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Go To 7
- CHECK THE PCR CONTROL RELAY
- Replace the PCR Control Relay with a known good relay.
- Reconnect the Power Control Relay harness connector.
- Test drive the vehicle and perform several Auto Start Events of the engine.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Repair is complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE POWER CONTROL RELAY NOTE:
The main Battery Supply Cable to the Power Control Relay is a live feed. Be careful to insulate and/or isolate the cable so that it cannot make contact with any engine ground.
- Remove both Battery Cables from the Power Control Relay.
- Measure the resistance across the Battery Cable terminals of the Power Control Relay.NOTE:
The relay is normally closed when not energized and should have continuity.
- While continuing to measure the resistance across the terminals of the relay, remove the PCR Control Relay from the PDC and connect a jumper between terminal 30 and terminal 87 of the PCR Control Relay connector n the PDC.NOTE:
This will energize the relay which should open the connection.
Did the resistance change from below 2.0 Ohms to an open circuit when the Power Control Relay was energized?
Yes
- The Power Control Relay is not stuck closed at this time. This may be an intermittent condition. Try energizing and de-energizing the relay several times while testing continuity across the relay to check for an intermittent stuck condition.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Power Control Relay in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
