Section 185 (Mp3023 Transfer Case (Service Information)): Installation: Installation

- Mount transfer case (1) on a transmission jack.
- Secure transfer case to jack with chains.
- Position transfer case under vehicle.
- Align transfer case (1) and transmission (2) shafts and install transfer case onto transmission.
- Install and tighten transfer case attaching bolts (3) to 41-49 N.m (30-36 ft. lbs.) torque.
- Connect the transfer case vent hose to the transfer case.
- Install the rear support cushion.
- Install rear crossmember and skid plate, if equipped.
- Remove transmission jack and support stand.
- Connect front propeller shaft and install rear propeller shaft. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, FRONT, INSTALLATION and SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, INSTALLATION .
- Fill transfer case with correct fluid. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Connect the shift motor and encoder electrical connectors.
- Lower the vehicle.
- If replacing the transfer case, Drivetrain Control Module, or both, use the scan tool to perform the Non-Volatile Memory Reset procedure.
- Perform the DTCM verification test. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
