Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN
ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- For vehicles equipped with heated mirrors, turn the rear defogger ON.
- Operate the Mirror Fold switch several times.
- With the scan tool,
read DDM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (P691)
DRIVER MIRROR UNFOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (C17) DRIVER
MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror (Component Side) connector from the DDM C2 harness connector.
- Check for continuity
between the (P691) Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit and the (C17)
Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit at the Driver Outside Rearview
Mirror (Component Side) connector.
Is there continuity between the (P691) Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit and the (C17) Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (P691) Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit for a short to the (C17) Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (P694)
DRIVER MIRROR FOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (C17) DRIVER
MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT
- Check for continuity
between the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit and the (C17)
Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit at the Driver Outside Rearview
Mirror (Component Side) connector.
Is there continuity between the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit and the (C17) Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit for a short to the (C17) Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 4
- Check for continuity
between the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit and the (C17)
Driver Mirror Heater Driver circuit at the Driver Outside Rearview
Mirror (Component Side) connector.
- CHECK THE RESISTANCE
BETWEEN THE (P691) DRIVER MIRROR UNFOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT AND THE (P694)
DRIVER MIRROR FOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance
between the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit and the (P691)
Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit at the Driver Outside Rearview
Mirror C2 (Component Side) connector.
Is the resistance below 9.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Driver Power Folding Mirror Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW , REMOVALMIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS , REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance
between the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit and the (P691)
Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit at the Driver Outside Rearview
Mirror C2 (Component Side) connector.
- CHECK THE (P691)
DRIVER MIRROR UNFOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage
between ground and the (P691) Driver Mirror Unfold Driver circuit
in the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C2 (Component Side) connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Replace the Driver Outside Rearview Folding Mirror in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW , REMOVALMIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS , REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 6
- CHECK THE (P694)
DRIVER MIRROR FOLD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage
between ground and the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit in
the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C2 (Component Side) connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Replace the Driver Outside Rearview Folding Mirror in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW , REMOVALMIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS , REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Replace the Driver Door Module (DDM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR , REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the voltage
between ground and the (P694) Driver Mirror Fold Driver circuit in
the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C2 (Component Side) connector.
