Diagnostic Test

- DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Is the DTC active or stored?
ORC - ACTIVE DTC

ORC - STORED DTC
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- Go to
- CHECK SQUIB LINES FOR A SHORT TO SEPARATE SQUIB CIRCUITS
- Turn the ignition OFF and unplug ORC connectors at the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
- Plug connectors into test tool 8443-55.
- Using wiring information, test appropriate terminals of test tool to determine if squib circuits are coupled together.
Are any of the squib circuits coupled together?
Yes
- Repair any squib circuits that are coupled together.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .

NOTE:Make sure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.
WARNING:If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
