Lines, A/C Underbody: Removal: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the front drive shaft (Refer to REMOVAL ).
- Lower the transmission as necessary to gain access to the upper A/C suction and liquid lines assembly.
- Remove the rear spare tire shield.
- Remove the nut (3) that secures the underbody refrigerant lines (4) to the upper A/C suction and liquid lines.
- Disconnect the underbody refrigerant lines and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- If servicing the upper A/C suction and liquid lines, remove the nut that secures the upper lines to the bracket located on the dash panel.
- Partially drain the engine cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the heater hoses (1) from the underbody heater lines (2).
- Remove the muffler, resonator and tail pipe assembly. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
- Support the fuel tank and remove the two right side fuel tank straps. Refer to TANK, FUEL, REMOVAL .
- Remove the right rear caliper and position it out of the way. Refer to CALIPER, DISC BRAKE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the right rear shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .
- Support and partially lower the right side of the rear body cradle. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, REAR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the nut (1) that secures the underbody refrigerant lines to the rear A/C expansion valve (2).
- Disconnect the rear underbody refrigerant lines from the rear A/C expansion valve and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Install plugs in, or tape over, all the opened refrigerant line fittings and rear expansion valve ports.
- Disengage the hose clamps (4) that secure the heater hoses (3) to the rear heater core tubes.
- Carefully disconnect the heater hoses from the rear heater core tubes.
NOTE:

- Remove the heat shields as required from the vehicle underbody.
- Disengage the seven mounting brackets (1) that secure the underbody line assembly (2) to the seven studs located on the vehicle underbody.
- Route the underbody line assembly over the rear axle and cradle and remove the line assembly from the vehicle.
