Section 124 (Starting System (Service Information)): Starter: Removal: 3.6L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  3. Remove the left engine mounts heat shield.

  4. Remove the starter solenoid heat shield. Only loosen the bolt half way to remove the shield.

  5. Disconnect the starter solenoid electrical connector (1) from the starter solenoid terminal.
  6. Remove the battery cable nut and battery cable from the solenoid stud (2).
  7. Remove bolts (4) and the starter assembly (3).
