Left-Hand Drive: CHRYSLER
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the driver airbag from the steering wheel. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL .
- From the back of the left lower spoke of the steering wheel (1), access and remove the screw (2) that secures the left spoke front bezel and Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch unit to the steering wheel.
- From the face of the steering wheel, remove the two screws (2) that secure the left front spoke bezel (1) within the hub cavity of the steering wheel.
- Unsnap and pull the left front spoke bezel (2) away from the steering wheel far enough to access and disconnect the steering wheel wire harness connection from the connector receptacle integral to the inboard end of the EVIC switch pod (1).
- From the back of the left spoke front bezel, remove the three screws (3) that secure the EVIC switch pod to the bezel.
- Remove the switch from the bezel.
