Pass Airbag Off Indicator: Operation

When the passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) provides a ground to the ON/OFF switch which energizes the Light Emitting Diode (LED) that illuminates the lamp. The ORC will also illuminate the ON/OFF switch for about seven seconds each time the ignition switch is turned to the ON position as a bulb check. The ORC will also store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) for any fault it detects in the passenger airbag ON/OFF switch lamp indicator circuit. For proper diagnosis of the switch a DRBIII(R) scan tool and the proper Body Diagnostic Procedures must be used.
