Engine Oil Temperature Warning Indicator

This indicator is located in the Oil Temperature gauge. The non- serviceable LED is hardwired to the MIC. When the cluster receives a PCI bus message indicating the oil temperature has reached or exceeded the Temperature High condition, 290°F (144°C), the cluster will illuminate the oil temperature warning indicator, request a single chime, and move the gauge pointer to the appropriate position. When the temperature reading falls below Temperature High, the cluster will turn OFF the warning indicator. While the temperature is between the Temperature High and Temperature Critical levels, the cluster will maintain the pointer at the Temperature High pointer position.

When the cluster receives a bus message indicating the oil temperature has reached or exceeded the Temperature Critical condition, 300°F (160°C), the cluster will flash the warning indicator, request a continuous chime, and move the gauge pointer to the appropriate position. When the temperature reading falls below the Temperature Critical point, the cluster will stop flashing the warning indicator.

The indicator remains ON if above the Temperature High point, or OFF if below. When descending from a Temperature Critical to a Temperature High condition, no chime will be requested. While the temperature is at or above the Temperature Critical level, the cluster will maintain the pointer at the Temperature Critical pointer position.
