Torsion Bars: Installation

NOTE: Left and right torsion bars are not interchangeable. They are stamped with an "L" or "R" for installation reference. Torsion bars may be installed with either end facing forward.

Install torsion bar through anchor, and slide torsion bar forward into control arm. Position anchor and bearing into frame crossmember. Thread adjusting bolt into bearing.
Turn adjusting bolt clockwise same number of turns as counted during disassembly to place load on torsion bar. Lower vehicle. Check and adjust ride height and front end alignment. See RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT in appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
