Lower Control Arm & Ball Joint: Removal

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Remove hub nut and hub washer. Remove CV axle shaft. See CV AXLE SHAFT . Unload torsion bar completely by turning adjusting bolt counterclockwise. See Figure. Remove torsion bar. See TORSION BARS .
- Remove outer tie rod end from steering knuckle. Remove lower shock absorber mounting bolt. Disconnect stabilizer bar link from lower control arm. Remove cotter pin and nut from lower control arm ball joint stud. Separate ball joint stud from steering knuckle using Remover (C-4150A). Remove lower control arm pivot bolts, and remove lower control arm from vehicle. Pry seal off ball joint, and replace if damaged.
