Lower Ball Joint: Installation

  1. Install ball joint into control arm using Press (C-4212-F) and Driver (6758). Install ball joint boot. Install snap ring or stake ball joint flange in 4 places with a hammer and chisel, as equipped. Remove jack stand supporting knuckle. Install ball joint into steering knuckle. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install cotter pin.
  2. Lubricate ball joint. Install lower control arm rear mounting bolt. Install CV axle shaft and tighten nut to specification. Install lower shock absorber mounting bolt and tighten to specification. Install stabilizer bar mounting bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Tighten lower control arm rear mounting bolt to specification. Tighten lower control arm front mounting bolt to specification. Install adjuster bolt, bearing, swivel and anchor to torsion bar. Reload torsion bar. Install wheel and tire assembly. Adjust vehicle ride height. See RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT in appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
