Upper Ball Joint

Place floor jack under lower control arm. Raise vehicle so wheels lightly contact floor (vehicle weight relieved from wheel). Grasp top of wheel and apply force in and out. Check for movement at ball joint between upper control arm and steering knuckle. If lateral movement is more than .06" (1.5 mm), replace ball joint.
