HVAC Housing: Installation

  1. Position the HVAC housing to the dash panel. Be certain that the evaporator condensate drain tube and the housing mounting studs are inserted into their correct mounting holes.
  2. Install the two bolts that secure the HVAC housing to the dash panel in the passenger compartment. Tighten the bolts to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.).
  3. Install the instrument panel (Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY ).
  4. Install the four nuts that secure the HVAC housing to the dash panel in the engine compartment. Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.).
  5. Unplug or remove the tape from the heater core tubes. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes and fill the engine cooling system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFILLING COOLING SYSTEM ).
  6. Unplug or remove the tape from the accumulator refrigerant line fitting and the evaporator outlet tube. Install a new O-ring seal and connect the accumulator to the evaporator outlet tube (Refer to ACCUMULATOR ).
  7. Unplug or remove the tape from the liquid line fitting and the evaporator inlet tube. Install a new o-ring seal and connect the liquid line to the evaporator inlet tube (Refer to LIQUID LINE ).
  8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  9. Evacuate the refrigerant system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT SYSTEM EVACUATE ).
  10. Charge the refrigerant system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHARGE ).
  11. Refill the cooling system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFILLING COOLING SYSTEM ).
