Upper Steering Coupling: Installation

- Install the upper steering coupling shaft to the vehicle ( Figure
).NOTE: A new steering coupling shaft pinch bolt for the upper and lower shafts must be used.
- Install the steering coupler shaft to the column ( Figure ).
- Install the upper pinch bolt use new bolt and tighten to 57 N.m (42 ft.lbs).
- Install the shaft to the lower coupler ( Figure ).
- Install the lower pinch bolt use new bolt and tighten to 57 N.m (42 ft.lbs).
- Install the toe plate ( Figure ) nuts and tighten to 12 N.m (105 in.lbs).
- Unlock the steering wheel.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
