Engine 3.9L: Installation

- Remove engine from the repair stand and position in the engine compartment.
- Install an engine support fixture.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist.
- Install transmission.
- Install the front engine mounts (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE MOUNTING/FRONT MOUNT-INSTALLATION ).
- Install exhaust pipe to manifold.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove engine lifting fixture.
- Install the generator (Refer to GENERATOR ).
- Install starter motor (Refer to STARTER ).
- Connect power steering hoses, if equipped.
- Connect air conditioning hoses.
- Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system, if equipped (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT ).
- Using a new gasket, install throttle body (Refer to THROTTLE BODY ).
- Connect the accelerator linkage (Refer to THROTTLE CABLE ).
- Connect the starter wires.
- Connect the oil pressure sensor wire.
- Install the distributor cap and wiring.
- Connect the vacuum lines.
- Connect the fuel supply line (Refer to FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS ).
- Install the radiator (Refer to RADIATOR ). Connect the radiator hoses and heater hoses.
- Install fan shroud in position.
- Fill cooling system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE-REFILLING COOLING SYSTEM 3.9L/5.9L ENGINE ).
- Install the air cleaner, resonator assembly and air in-let hose. Tighten clamps to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.).
- Install the battery.
- Warm engine and adjust.
- Install hood and line up with the scribe marks.
- Road test vehicle.
