Rear Axle-8 1/4: Installation

- Raise the axle with lifting device and align to the leaf spring centering bolts.
- Install spring clamps and spring plates. Tighten the U-bolt nuts to 149 N-m (110 ft. lbs.).
- Install shock absorbers and tighten nuts to 82 N-m (60 ft. lbs.).
- Install RWAL sensor into the differential housing.
- Install parking brake cables, cable brackets and brake drums. Refer to Brakes for procedures.
- Connect brake hose to axle junction block.
- Install stabilizer bar and center it with equal spacing on both sides. Tighten axle bolts to 54 N-m (40 ft. lbs.).
- Install axle vent hose.
- Install propeller shaft with reference marks aligned. Tighten bolts to 108 N-m (80 ft. lbs.).
- Install the wheels and tires.
- Add gear lubricant, if necessary. Refer to Lubricant Specifications for lubricant requirements.
- Remove lifting device from axle and lower the vehicle.
