WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Clockspring is located behind steering wheel. Turn steering wheel until front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL .
  2. Remove lower steering column cover. Remove steering column tilt knob by pulling straight back on knob, if equipped. Remove 2 outboard retaining screws from lower steering column shroud. Press inward on both sides of upper shroud at front mating seam to disengage locking clips. Remove upper steering column shroud. Remove one retaining screw and lower steering column shroud.
  3. Disconnect harness connectors from clockspring. Remove 2 clockspring retaining screws. See Figure. Separate clockspring from combination switch. If clockspring is being reused, secure clockspring rotor to clockspring case to keep rotor from turning.
