Parking Brake Shoes: Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove the disc brake caliper. See CALIPER .
- Remove the disc brake rotor. See ROTOR .
- Lockout the parking brake cable.
- Disengage the parking brake cable from behind the rotor assembly to allow easier disassembly of the parking brake shoes. See Fig 1.
- Remove the axle shaft. See appropriate DRIVE AXLES article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Remove the parking brake shoes. See Fig 2 or Fig 3 .
