WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Reach under the driver side outboard end of the instrument panel to access and unsnap the plastic retainer clip that secures the parking brake release linkage rod to the lever on the back side of the parking brake release handle.
  3. Disengage the parking brake release linkage rod end from the lever on the back of the parking brake release handle.
  4. Using trim stick or another suitable wide flat-bladed tool, gently pry one on the parking brake handle hinge tabs away from its pivot pin on the instrument panel. See Fig 1.
  5. While prying the parking brake release lever hinge tab with one hand, use other hand to pull the handle firmly down and away from the pivot pin.
  6. Remove the parking brake release lever from the instrument panel.
