Brake System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
This vehicle is equipped with front disc and rear disc or drum brakes. The front disc brakes consist of dual piston calipers. The rear disc brakes consist of single piston calipers and solid rotors. The rear drum brakes are dual brake shoe, internal expanding units with cast brake drums. The parking brake mechanism is cable operated and connected to the rear brake secondary shoes on drum brakes. On rear disc brakes the cable is connected to the lever on the backing plate that activates the parking brake shoes. Power brake assist is standard equipment. A vacuum operated power brake booster is used for all applications.
