Switch Continuity Test

  1. Disconnect brake lamp switch harness connector.
  2. With switch plunger extended, attach ohmmeter test leads to pins No. 1 and 2 and check for continuity. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, go to step  5.
  3. With the plunger retracted, attach ohmmeter test leads to pins No. 3 and 4 and check for continuity. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, go to step  5.
  4. With the plunger retracted, attach ohmmeter test leads to pins No. 5 and 6 and check for continuity. If no continuity exists, go to nest step.
  5. Replace brake lamp switch. See BRAKE LAMP SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
