DTC P1294: Target Idle Not Reached: Testing

NOTE:
Diagnose all IAC, MAP sensor and/or TP sensor DTCs present before proceeding.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, read the DTCs and record the related freeze frame data. Is the Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero? If yes, go to next step. If no, see INTERMITTENT CONDITION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Inspect the intake manifold and the power brake booster for any vacuum leaks. Inspect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system for proper operation or any vacuum leaks. Were any problems found? If yes, repair or replace as necessary. If no, go to next step.
- Inspect the air induction system for dirty air cleaner, foreign material trapped in the air intake tube, etc. Check for vacuum leaks in air intake tube, air cleaner housing, etc. Were any problems found? If yes, repair or replace as necessary. If no, go to next step.
- Inspect the throttle body plate for carbon build up or other restrictions. Inspect the throttle linkage for binding and smooth operation. Ensure the throttle plate is resting on the stop at idle. Remove the IAC motor and inspect the pintle and its seating surface inside the throttle body. Were any problems found? If yes, clean and/or replace as necessary. If no, go to next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the IAC motor harness connector. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Measure the resistance of the IAC driver circuits between the IAC motor harness connector and the PCM harness connector. Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms on all circuits? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the open in the IAC driver circuit(s).
- Using the wiring diagram as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Visually inspect the related wire harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Visually inspect both the component and the PCM connectors. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If there are no possible causes remaining, replace and program the PCM. NOTE:
Before continuing, disconnect the PCM harness connectors and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
