DTC P1195: O2 Sensor 1/1 Slow During Catalyst Monitor Or DTC P1196: O2 Sensor 2/1 Slow During Catalyst Monitor: Testing

- Turn ignition on, with engine off. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, read the DTCs and record the related freeze frame data. Is the Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero? If yes, go to next step. If no, see INTERMITTENT CONDITION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle. Check for exhaust leaks between engine and appropriate O2 sensor. Are there any exhaust leaks? If yes, repair or replace the leaking exhaust parts as necessary. If no, go to next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Backprobe the O2 sensor signal circuit at the O2 sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector. Start the engine and allow it to idle. Is the voltage less than 0.10 volt? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the high resistance in the O2 sensor signal circuit.
- Turn the ignition off. Backprobe the (K4) sensor ground circuit at the O2 sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector. Start the engine and allow it to idle. Is the voltage less than 0.10 volt? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the high resistance in the (K4) sensor ground circuit.
- There are no possible causes remaining, replace O2 sensor.
NOTE:
Ensure the voltmeter leads meet the terminals in the connector and that there is good terminal-to-wire connection. Ensure the voltmeter leads are connected for positive polarity.
