DTC P0443: EVAP Purge Solenoid Circuit: Testing

- Turn ignition on, with engine off. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, read the DTCs and record the related freeze frame data. Is the Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero? If yes, go to next step. If no, see INTERMITTENT CONDITION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the EVAP purge solenoid harness connector. Measure the resistance across the EVAP purge solenoid (component side). Is the resistance 29.0-44.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the EVAP purge solenoid.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Measure the voltage on the (F12) fused ignition switch output circuit at the EVAP purge solenoid harness connector. Is the voltage more than 10.0 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the open in the (F12) fused ignition switch output circuit. Inspect the related fuse and repair as necessary.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Measure the resistance of the (K52) EVAP purge solenoid control circuit from the PCM harness connector to the EVAP purge solenoid harness connector. Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the open in the (K52) EVAP purge solenoid control circuit.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (K52) EVAP purge solenoid control circuit. Is the resistance less than 100 ohms? If yes, repair the short to ground in the (K52) EVAP purge solenoid control circuit. If no, go to next step.
- Using the wiring diagram as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Visually inspect the related wire harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Visually inspect both the component and the PCM connectors. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If there are no possible causes remaining, replace and program the PCM. See PROGRAMMING .
NOTE:
Check connectors. Clean/repair as necessary.
NOTE:
Before continuing, disconnect the PCM harness connectors and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
