Monitored & Set Conditions

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Ambient temperature sensor may also be referred to as battery temperature sensor.

DTC P0070: AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR STUCK  - This code is monitored when the engine is running. The DTC is set after 4 warm-up cycles, the PCM did not see a 35°F change in the ambient temperature sensor voltage within 200 miles. This is a two trip fault.

DTC P0071: AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR PERFORMANCE  - This code is monitored when the engine off time has exceeded 480 minutes. Ambient temperature is greater than 39°F. The DTC is set after a calibrated amount of cool down time, the PCM compares the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor values. If the AAT sensor value is not within 18°F of the other two temperature sensors an error is detected. This is a two trip fault.
