Removal (3.9L & 5.9L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located on passenger side of engine at transmission bellhousing, just behind cylinder head. See Figure. Passenger's side front fender wheelwell must be removed for access to CKP sensor.

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove passenger side front wheel. Remove wheel opening molding. Remove plastic rivets attaching wheelwell to front fender and remove wheelwell.
  2. Disconnect electrical connector for CKP sensor. Remove 2 CKP sensor retaining bolts (recessed hex head) and CKP sensor.
