Removal (4.7L)

The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is bolted to the front top of right cylinder head. See Figure. Raise and support vehicle. It is easier to remove and install sensor from under vehicle. Disconnect CMP sensor electrical connector. Remove CMP sensor mounting bolt and carefully pry sensor away from cylinder head using 2 screwdrivers. Check condition of CMP sensor "O" ring and replace if necessary.
