Removal & Installation (Latch Clips)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Two types of latch clips are used. Type-1 is tethered to the fuel line. Type-2 is not tethered to the fuel line.

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Ensure disconnect fitting and fuel lines are clean.
  2. On type-1 latch clips, pry up with a screwdriver. See Fig 1. On type-2 latch clips, separate and unlatch 2 small arms on end of clip and swing away from fuel line.
  3. On both types, slide latch clip toward fuel rail while lifting with screwdriver. Insert Fuel Line Removal Tool (Snap-On FIH 9255-1) into fuel line to release locking fingers. Pull fuel lines apart to disconnect.
  4. Install latch clip. Ensure latch clip snaps into position. If latch clip will not fit properly, check for improper installation of fuel line fitting on fuel rail. Pull on fuel line to ensure fuel line fitting is properly locked on fuel rail. Reconnect negative battery cable. Start engine and check for leaks.
