Evaporative Emissions Leak Detection Pump: Removal

  1. EVAP Leak Detection Pump (LDP) and EVAP LDP filter must be replaced as an assembly. EVAP LDP is located at driver's side of engine compartment, just below battery tray and Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Figure and Figure . EVAP LDP filter is attached to outside of battery tray, just in front of PDC.
  2. Remove battery. Disconnect hose from bottom of EVAP LDP filter that goes to EVAP LDP. Remove retaining clip and disconnect EVAP LDP filter from battery tray.
  3. Disconnect pigtail wiring harness for battery temperature sensor from bottom of battery tray. PDC must be removed for access to EVAP LDP.
  4. Remove PDC-to-fender retaining screw at rear of PDC. Unsnap PDC from battery tray. Carefully position PDC aside.
  5. Remove battery tray. Disconnect electrical connector and remove vapor/vacuum lines at EVAP LDP. Use care not to damage vacuum hoses during removal. Disconnect electrical connector at LDP. Remove 3 LDP mounting screws and remove LDP from vehicle.
