A/C Condenser: Removal

CAUTION:
Before removing the A/C condenser, note the location of each of the radiator and condenser air seals. These seals are used to direct alt through the condenser and radiator. Air seals must be reinstalled in their proper locations in order for the A/C and engine cooling systems to perform as designed.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE ).
- Remove the four push-pin retainers that secure the radiator and condenser air seal to the right side radiator support and remove the air seal from the engine compartment.
- Remove the nut that secures the discharge line fitting to the condenser inlet port ( Fig 1 ).
- Disconnect the discharge line from the condenser.
- Remove the seal from the discharge line fitting and discard.
- Install plugs in, or tape over the discharge line fitting and condenser inlet port.
- Remove the nut that secures the liquid line fitting to the condenser outlet.
- Disconnect the liquid line from the condenser.
- Remove the seal from the liquid line fitting and discard.
- Install plugs in, or tape over the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port.
- If equipped, remove the two bolts that secure the automatic transmission fluid cooler to the radiator and position the transmission cooler out of the way.
- Remove the two bolts that secure the A/C condenser to the radiator.
- Carefully lift the A/C condenser up and out of the engine compartment.
