Removal & Installation (Durango)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Move appropriate front seat to most forward position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove appropriate front seat belt and retractor/pretensioner assembly. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove SIACM retaining screws. See Fig 1 . Reach through seat belt retractor mounting hole and lift SIACM to disengage mounting hook from slot in sheet metal. Pull SIACM out of mounting hole to disconnect SIACM electrical connector. Remove SIACM and mounting bracket as an assembly.
  3. To install reverse removal procedure. Tighten SIACM retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform air bag system check. See AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
