Removal & Installation (Durango)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove headliner. See HEADLINER  .
  2. Remove air bag front tether hook from slot near base of A-pillar. See Fig 1 . Disengage 2 air bag front tether retainers. Disengage 2 air bag tether clips from A-pillar. Disconnect air bag electrical connector, located at rear of air bag inflator. Remove air bag retaining screws along roof rail. Grasp curtain air bag plastic channel and pull channel straight away from roof rail, far enough to disengage plastic push-in fasteners. Remove curtain air bag.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Starting from rear of vehicle, engage air bag plastic push-in fasteners. Starting from rear of vehicle, install and tighten curtain air bag retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform air bag system check. See AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
