Test 26A: Not Configured For Side Air Bags

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRBIII, determine if NOT CONFIGURED FOR SIDE AIR BAGS status message an active or stored Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). If NOT CONFIGURED FOR SIDE AIR BAGS status message is an active DTC, go to next step. If NOT CONFIGURED FOR SIDE AIR BAGS status message is a stored DTC, go to TEST 1B: REPAIRING STORED CODES  .
  2. On DRBIII, select MISCELLANEOUS and CONFIGURE FOR SIDE AIR BAGS. Press continue button to display current side air bag status. If DRBIII displays current status as ACM WITHOUT SIDE AIR BAG, use DRBIII to select ACM WITH SIDE AIR BAG. If DRBIII does not display current status as ACM WITHOUT SIDE AIR BAG, replace Air Bag Control Module (ACM). See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (ACM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
