Base Trim: Installation

WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR-BAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, SEAT BELT TENSIONER, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. SEE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS , AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ARTICLE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
  1. Position the base trim onto the instrument panel structural support.
  2. Install and tighten the screws around the perimeter of the instrument panel that secure the base trim to the instrument panel structural support.
  3. Install the top cover onto the instrument panel. (Refer to TOP COVER - INSTALLATION ).
  4. Install the radio into the instrument panel. (Refer to RADIO - INSTALLATION ).
  5. Install the instrument cluster into the instrument panel. (Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - INSTALLATION ).
  6. Install the instrument panel into the vehicle. (Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTALLATION ).
  7. Connect the battery negative cable.
